to determine whether listening to relaxing classical music, such as that composed by Mozart, will increase test scores in mathematics, researchers test a group of people. They give the subjects a mathematics test, record the mean test score before listening to Mozart, then have the subjects listen to Mozart while taking a new mathematics test.
