How to write a null and alternative hypothesis? Please help?

Hello. Having trouble with the following question and need help. Thank you...

For the following statement, write the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis. Then, label the one that is the claim being made.

A special insulation will lower your heating bills by less than $78.|||The null is the status quo and the alternative hypothesis is the claim.

It's pretty easy to see that the claim is being made by the use of a special insulation.

This assumes your heating bill is on average $78 per month.

Ho: µ __ $78 ← Null hypothesis

Ha: µ __ $78 ← Alternate Hypothesis (Claim)

Now, in the underlined space between µ and $78, place one of the following:

( ≤ ) or ( ≥ ) or ( %26gt;) or ( %26lt; )

Hint: The alternative hypothesis CANNOT use an equals sign.

It's always greater than or less than.

Click 'add details' and post your answer. - I'll be happy to check it.

Good luck in your studies,

~ Mitch ~

EDIT:

Try it again, hon. - Remember the HINT:

The alternative hypothesis CANNOT use an equal sign.

It's always greater than (%26gt;) or less than (%26lt;).

I'll check back later to see if it's right.

ADDITIONAL EDIT: I'm not here to "give answers", but to "help".

I pointed you in the right direction, the rest is up to you.

.|||I don't know an alternative hypothesis, but a "null" hypothesis is basically the opposite of your hypothesis

Null - A special insulation will NOT lower your heating bills by less than 78$
