Is it ok to interchange null and alternative hypothesis definitions?

I understand that if there is a certain claim I want to prove, it should be given the burden of proof; so it must be made the alternative hypothesis.

What happens if I interchange the null and alternative hypothesis? Does it matter? What if it is a one tailed test instead of a two tailed test?|||It general, it is okay to interchange such definitions.

It should not matter whether it is a one-tailed test or a two-tailed test as long as you keep in mind what the test is.
