How to write an Statistics Alternative Hypothesis in symbolic form?

Example :The average human body temperature should be 98.6潞F. Some people believe that when a baby is teething, they get a fever. Write null and alternative hypotheses that could be used to test this.

I know the null should be Ho:u=98.6 but i need help with the alternative hypothesis|||In most cases, if the null hypothesis is X = something or other, the alternative is simply

X 鈮?something or other.

In this case, if you are absolutely sure that you are looking for a fever, that is a higher temperature, then the alternative hypothesis is

u %26gt; 98.6

(But you have to be careful with this. If 98.6 is the AVERAGE body temperature, how much greater can it be without fever being present ? You will have to be careful that you do not call a temperature a fever which may be normal for that individual.)
